"Hot August Night" is a live double album recorded by American singer-songwriter Neil Diamond and released in 1972. The album was recorded at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles during a series of concerts in August of that year and captures Diamond at the peak of his live performance abilities.
The album features many of Diamond's biggest hits, including "Sweet Caroline," "Cracklin' Rosie," and "Play Me," as well as cover versions of songs like "Soolaimon" and "Holly Holy." The album also includes a 12-minute medley of Diamond's early hits, demonstrating his versatility as a performer.
"Hot August Night" was a commercial success, reaching number five on the Billboard 200 chart and eventually being certified double platinum by the RIAA. It is widely regarded as one of the best live albums of all time and helped solidify Diamond's reputation as a dynamic and engaging live performer.
In 2012, Diamond celebrated the 40th anniversary of the album by returning to The Greek Theatre for a series of concerts that were recorded and released as "Hot August Night III."
